The Japanese term "kurinuki" means to hollow or carve out and the process embraces the organic rhythms which occur in the natural world. Join award winning ceramicist Fiona Cuthbert O'Meara on a reflective walk through nature on her Doonan property while you will learn to archive the shapes and patterns found in our surrounding environment.
Learn how to record these marks onto beautiful recycled clays and return to the studio to carve out your own small lidded ceramic box. Your hand crafted box may be used as a jewellery box, a salt or sugar vessel, etc or as a decorative piece. Your art work will then be dried and bisque fired then packed into the community wood-firing conducted in the Naturemuse Ceramics Anagama wood kiln for a slow, natural deeply rendered finish. This firing will take place in early October 2026 and you will be invited back to the kiln opening and the reveal of your work.
