McGrath graduated in Fine Arts (Honors) majoring in printmaking, a Master of Philosophy in Creative Practice (Research) with embedded memory in landscape as the research subject.

An environmental artist, Wendy is known for site-specific ephemeral installations and is a recent selected finalist in the SCAP- LALC for her landscape painting.

An established environmental sculptor, her work has evolved to making works on paper, printmaking, and artists books, with the landscape as subject, and the surrounding rainforest setting to her studio. "The music of birdcalls, the forest, weather, all these influence my semi abstracted works".
