Maria’s hand-built Ceramic vessels and Totem sculptures are Abstract expressions of the diversity and beauty of the Natural environment, particularly the beach and Wallum bush land that surrounds her home. The organic treasures found in these places influence the Art she creates, be it a piece of bleached driftwood, a broken shell or a Banksia seed pod.

Universal symbols, patterns, textures and colours are used as a personal language in responding to the abundance of flora, fauna and natural phenomena. Maria’s Art is also informed by her vast knowledge of Art history and Cultures.
